NVQ Assessments

NVQ assessments are the life blood of recognition of the qualification standard required to carry out a specific scope of skill required within The Construction Industry.

At The Finishing & Associated Trades Equity we bring structure to your position as a self-employed subcontractor or the owner of a small or medium size business in The Construction Industry.  A part of this structure is to help you achieve recognition for your own and your workforce’s skills by the easiest and most recognisable route in The Construction Industry.

NVQ Assessments in our own sector, the ‘finishing trades’ are readily attainable and becoming increasingly requisite to your route to working on a building site of any size. The FATE and FATE Training affiliates Southwark Construction Skills Centre  help our members by assessing their needs as well as their work and skills, recording these skills to attain the NVQ qualification.  We look to bring you this assessing and route to work as cost effectively as possible with NVQ level 2 assessment costing FATE ,members just £400 + VAT

The FATE Training and affiliated assessors offer not only a clear route to initial qualification but also an ongoing plan to map out further training requirements and recognition as your skills gather pace with your experience on site.

Taking a Construction NVQ and obtaining the CSCS card you need may be the next step in your career.  Certainly if you’re an apprentice, school leaver or changing careers you’ll want to show employers that you are competent and that you meet the industry standard for the trade you have chosen.

Most higher level CSCS cards, and many higher-level affiliate card programmes require an NVQ qualification, and, most construction employers require such a card before you are considered.  Attaining the right level of Construction NVQ will be crucial if you’re looking to advance your career in The Construction Industry.

NVQ Assessment – what next?

Call 020 800 46970 and register quoting your name and FATE membership number.  Your FATE membership number is on the plastic card you’ve received when joining up.  Alternatively email putting FATE NVQ and your membership number in the subject box.

Registering with our affiliate assessors will get the ball rolling.  By registering and paying the initial fee of £200.00 plus VAT you are then entitled to a red CSCS card whilst assessment for your full NVQ is undertaken.  This effectively buys you some breathing space but we recommend you act swiftly regardless so you can move forward in a more correct and recognised manner.  The red CSCS card lasts just ONE YEAR so act quickly so you’re not caught out when it expires.

There’s a whole calendar of NVQ assessments taking place across England under FATE and the FATE Training umbrella.  Join our growing membership at The Finishing & Associated Trades Equity for regular updates on the NVQ assessment ‘events’ and their locations along with dates.

NVQ level 2 is a skilled workers card and lasts for 5 years.  We recommend you keep your card in date so you’ll never effectively be seen as not qualified.  Once you have your skilled worker card why not consider working toward your NVQ level 3, advanced craft or supervisor card.  The NVQ level 3 card is Gold and also lasts for 5 years.
